Border Psycho Brewery - Tijuana
Originally from Mexico City, brothers Roberto and Javier Albarran moved to Tijuana where Roberto first worked as a banker and Javier in marketing and advertising. Upon their arrival in Tijuana, the brothers were struck by the vibrant craft beer movement taking place just accross the border in the United States.
Noticing the boom in artisan wine production just south in Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe wine region, Javier took up studies to become a wine sommelier, and brother Roberto gladly accompanied his brother on vineyard tours and to tasting rooms. The two realized that Mexico, and Northern Baja California in particular, was undergoing its own local foodie movement.
Having tasted many excellent craft brews across the border, and noticing none in their adopted Tijuana, Roberto quit his job one day and told his brother Javier “Let’s make beer.” In that moment, Border Psycho Brewery was born.
Unlike many of their local rivals, Roberto and Javier were never home brewers. They began Border Psycho as a commercial enterprise, investing in a small beer production set-up, and started brewing four styles of beer. The first batch of Border Psycho was released in March 2012. Today, Border Psycho brews and sells seven styles of award-winning craft beer available throughout Mexico, and boasts some of the best restaurants in Baja California as customers.

TRES B: "Big Bad Brewing Co." - Mexicali
TresB (“Big Bad Brewing Co.") is an award-winning microbrewery located in Mexicali, Mexico. Renowned amongst craft beer connoisseurs, TresB works with the best grains and hops, resulting in outstanding beers known for their unique personalities.
Artisan beers are “seasoned” in ways that large commercial breweries avoid. The taste of the local water, the hand by which it’s made and the selection of local ingredients all go into creating a unique beer. In this way, TresB beers evoke unique flavors and characteristics not found in any other beer.
As a local micro-brewery, TresB is proud of its involvement with their community… they make beer that everyone will enjoy, while being a source for local jobs, encouraging the growth of their community, and protecting the environment.

Cervecería Península - Mexicali
Founded in 2012, many beer aficionados consider the product coming out of Cervecería Península to be of the most innovative beers from Baja California. This brewery is "micro" in every respect of the term microbrewery: very small production, high-quality and innovative. Like many of their Mexicali brethren, these brewmasters started out some years ago as home-brewers, with nothing more than a book, curiosity and a strong sense of entrepreneurism! Today they are looking to scale their production, to satisfy thirsty Mexican and American markets.
Cerveza Urbana - Mexicali
Probably the largest "home brewer" in the world!
